Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona will look to sign a forward in the January transfer window, and Raheem Sterling is their number one target.
The 26-year-old’s future at the Etihad is uncertain with his amount of minutes having taken a major hit this season, and he has admitted he would be open to heading abroad.
The £100million arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa has only further fuelled the belief that the 26-year-old will leave, with Barcelona poised to make the deal happen.
The lack of game time for the £81m-rated England star has led to speculation regarding his future with his current contract due to expire in 2023. Barcelona are willing to offer him an escape route and could make a move in January.
According to Deportes COPE as relayed by Sport Witnesss, Barcelona want a forward ‘with goals’, and Raheem Sterling is the player they ‘like the most’ in that regard.
The report say the recent injury to Sergio Aguero, who is set to miss up to three months of the season after recently leaving a game due to heart problems, has forced Barcelona into a change of strategy for the winter window.
The report adds that Despite Barcelona not reaching a positive conclusion during negotiations with Man City in the summer, they have retained their interest in the player.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Barcelona at this point, go for it.
