Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is set to ‘hold talks’ over extending Ilkay Gundogan’s contract by a further two years.
The German international was the first signing of the Guardiola era and has excelled since coming to England from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
The 31-year-old played an integral role in City’s drive to a third Premier League title in the last four seasons, registering a career best total in front of goal with 17 strikes and a further five assists last season.
According to Italy-based journalist Ekrem Konur as reported by City Xtra FN, the reigning Premier League champions are looking to ‘hold talks‘ with Gundogan over a new two-year extension to his current contract.
Gundogan is contracted to City until 2023 after signing a new deal in 2019. He hasn’t been an undisputed starter since the start but his importance and impact has grown over the years.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

He deserves it so much! I’m so glad he decided to stay some time ago when he was hesitant on signing a new contract. What an underrated player, absolutely love the guy! Go Ilkay!💙💙
