Manchester City could look to bring in a top-class Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly next summer after he issued a come-and-get-me plea.
City attempted to sign the defender in 2020, but Napoli held firm on their high asking price, as a result the Blues decided to moved on to sign benfica talismanic Ruben Dias.
The 30-year-old Senegal international has earned a reputation as one of world football’s top defenders and it appears that his appetite for success matches that.
As reported by Sport Witness, Koulibaly has revealed that City are one of the only sides he would leave Napoli to join.
Speaking to journalist Valter De Maggio, he said: “If I decided to leave Napoli, I would only do it for two, maximum three clubs in the world. I’m talking about Guardiola’s City, Real Madrid, Barcelona at the most.”
Koulibaly also rejected the idea of joining an Italian rival. “Me at Juventus? Are you crazy? I would never play for another Italian club. I would never go to Juventus, I would not betray the Napoli fans.”
It looks like City have a good chance of landing the 30-year-old, should he decide to move on. However, with John Stones and Aymeric Laporte both proving their worth, City just don’t need Koulibaly anymore.
The Senegal international has again been an important player for Napoli during the 2021-22 campaign, making 13 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

We are finished without Pep blud

We are absolutely dusted when Pep leaves. To be called “Guardiola’s City” means he wants to play for Pep, not necessarily City.

So without Pep he wouldn't join? We don't need him anyway.
