Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Phil Foden is close to signing a new long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Foden, one of the greatest talents to have come off of City’s production line in recent years, is beginning to find his feet again, as he looks to try and cement himself as a permanent fixture in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
The 21-year-old is considered an elite young talent and is already a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side, playing his part in two of the club’s recent Premier League title victories.
The England star still has three years left on his current deal, but City are said to be eager to hand him improved terms.
According to The Athletic UK, the Stockport-born midfielder is close to signing a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.
As per the report, while a new deal has not been finalised as of yet, there are not thought to be any big barriers to an agreement.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

Foden enjoyed an incredible 2020-21 campaign, collecting a Premier League winners’ medal, while he also helped the club reach the Champions League final.
The young forward also made three appearances for England at Euro 2020 before suffering a foot injury which prevented him from appearing in the final against Italy.
After missing the start of the season through injury, the England international was outstanding against Liverpool, so much so that Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was unable to separate him and Mohamed Salah when deciding on who should be presented with the Man of the Match award post-match.
