Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Newcastle United’s prospective new owners are hoping to pry a major asset away from Etihad.
The controversial Saudi Arabian-led takeover of Newcastle United is set to be approved if the club can prove the Gulf kingdom will not be a director of the club.
That issue is due to be determined in early January when arbitration proceedings between Newcastle and the Premier League will decide whether the blocked buyout can proceed.
The takeover saga which has now dragged on for 18 months and seen the club embroiled in legal disputes with the Premier League is closer to resolution than ever before.
A number of outlets have reported an announcement is expected which would end Mike Ashley’s 14-year ownership of the club and bring an end to the saga, and it is believed they are looking to poach Jason Wilcox away from City.
According to an exclusive report from the Telegraph on Thursday, Newcastle United’s prospective new owners are considering a move to appoint a sporting director, with Man City academy director Jason Wilcox among those considered a suitable candidate.
Wilcox is currently the champions’ academy director. He was made City’s academy director in 2017 and quickly became a major part of their youth development programme.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
