Bernardo Silva is reportedly eager to leave Manchester City and join Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window. The midfielder has a €58m release clause, and Manchester City are said to be open to letting him go as a favor due to his contributions to the club. However, they are also looking to earn the full value of the clause for the 29-year-old player.
Barcelona officials have expressed some doubts about Silva’s potential arrival, as he plays in a similar position to Lamine Yamal and the cost of the deal is significant. Despite this, Barca’s sporting leaders are supportive of bringing in the Manchester City star to strengthen their squad. Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes is expected to play a key role in facilitating the move.
Sport suggests that Barca will need to negotiate hard to secure Silva for a price lower than his €58m clause, as Manchester City have strategically set this low release fee for when the player turns 30. The newspaper warns that Barca must be cautious in their dealings to avoid falling victim to another clever move by Manchester City’s management in the transfer market.
