Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is close to agreeing a new contract with Zack Steffen.
Steffen joined the Manchester side in 2019, and has only made 13 appearances for City since signing from the Columbus Crew.
According to the Daily Star, the Premier League champions are eager to tie the American international down to a long-term deal. As per the report, Steffen will sign a four-year contract with City.
City have been working this summer to tie down key players to new long-term deals. With Steffen now set to join the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones and Ederson in committing their future to the club.
Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the former Columbus Crew star. And Steffen has proven to be a solid backup option to Ederson Moraes when called upon.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
I’d be happy with that. Genuinely great keeper

ridiculously good, but think he should get a move instead.

too quality just to be second in line, he’ll never get a look in while eddies here.
He’s way too good to be a backup. It would be good for city if he renews. But for himself, he should look to leave tbh

I think he is a good backup, he showed some good shot stopping skills against Leicester, his fa cup sf performance was cringe but I think with more time and minutes he can improve

Best back up keeper in the league

Honestly, why? He’s got the potential to have starts elsewhere. With Ederson locked in, not sure it makes sense for him personally. Good for City though
