Thierry Henry was present on Monday on the British television channel Sky Sports, where he analyzed in detail the triumph of Manchester City over Chelsea, 1-0, at Stamford Bridge, and did not spare his praise for Bernardo Silva.
Silva has started five of City’s six Premier League games so far this term and scored the winner in the 1-0 victory away at Leicester earlier in September and impressed alongside Rodri in a deeper-lying central midfield role in Saturday’s win over fellow title favourites Chelsea.
In the most significant victory of City’s season so far, their most important individual was Bernardo Silva who neither wanted nor expected to remain at the club beyond the summer.
In the opinion of the former French international, the Portuguese was “the best in the field” among the Blues, a fact that deserves to be highlighted, especially after a summer transfer market where his departure was taken for granted.
“That’s how you win a championship. When people talk about Pep [Guardiola], the way the team plays and the possession of the ball, but the way they run… And believe me, they have to run. I’ve been there, and if you don’t, you go to the bench or to the stands. So you better run, ” he said.
“We’re talking about a guy who apparently would be unhappy. Pep always finds a way to match him, especially against Chelsea. You know what? You can highlight all digits. If you look at the career average, you see that he has had more interceptions, duels, recovered balls, clearances and more assists in his own midfield, ” he continued.
“He caught my eye. This is how we win a championship, this is how we win titles and this is how we make history. For me, this man was the best on the pitch, ” added the current Belgium assistant coach.
These Henry’s comment on Bernardo has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.

Bernardo was the standout performer on Saturday, he was immense. The whole team collectively were willing to run through walls for one another. It's the type of spirit no amount of money can buy. 👊
