Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club’s scouts were present at Benfica‘s 3-0 win over Barcelona.
The Portuguese club has long been a hotbed for talented stars, with scouts across Europe flocking to catch their next generation in action.
Among those casting an eye over proceedings this season have been representatives of Manchester City.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, scouts from the Etihad Stadium were present at the game – and that appearance may have derived from a very special request by Pep Guardiola.
Man City were not the only clubs present, with scouts from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Southampton and Leeds also making the trip, along with clubs from Spain, France, Germany and Holland – most notably Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
Who could City have been scouting?
It is not known who City were there to watch but a number of Benfica players impressed on the night.
Man of match Darwin Nunez scored in the third minute to put Barcelona on the back foot early, and netted the penalty which made it 3-0 to the Portuguese team.
As a stab in the dark, it must be recalled that the Premier league champions were linked with a move for striker Darwin Nunez.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

Nunez had a blinder, link up play was good and his pressing was brilliant too. Not convinced as to whether he’s the man to lead the line for us

Darwin Nunez.. Not the first time he's been linked with City. He's certainly clinical, as Barca found out last night. 😬
