Italian outfit Hellas Verona have confirmed that they have re-signed Manchester City midfielder Ivan Ilic, this time on a permanent basis.

Ilic joined City from the Serbian side Red Star Belgrade and was subsequently sent on a series of loan moves across continental Europe.

The 20-year-old Serbian international has not played for Pep Guardiola’s outfit since arriving in 2017.

The young midfielder has been impressing in Serie A since joining the club on loan last summer, and has broken into the starting line-up at Hellas Verona.

After a decent spell at Dutch side NAC Breda, in which he scored four in 24 from midfield, Ivan Ilic has been followed by a good spell in Italy, making 29 league appearances for a team that finished 10th in Serie A.

Having enjoyed such a successful temporary spell with the Italian outfit, Ilic has now returned to the club on a permanent deal, with an initial fee in the region of £7million agreed.

As confirmed by Hellas Verona via their official Twitter account, he has penned a five-year deal at the club and will now be looking forward to settling down after a difficult spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Ilic’s departure comes after Man City saw youngsters Dario Sarmiento and Lukas Nmecha leave the club.

The Premier League champions have also seen more high-profile players Angelino and Jack Harrison depart as they attempt to trim down their squad.
