Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will unveil the statues of Vincent Kompany and David Silva ahead of the premier league match vs Arsenal.

The former captain left the club in 2019 after 11 years, during which time he won the Premier League and League Cup four times and FA Cup twice. Silva left last summer, boasting one further League Cup win to Kompany’s haul.

“The decision to honour the three players was based on their unparalleled contribution to the club’s transformation over their combined 31 years at the club,” City said in a statement.

The monument will be erected at the front of the Etihad Stadium just like Arsenal did with Dennis Bergkamp.

According to Simon Mullock for The Mirror, the premier league champions will this week honour club legends Vincent Kompany and David Silva by unveiling statues of the pair ahead of the clash with Arsenal.

The report adds that Kompany and David Silva are understood to be ‘thrilled’ with their statues, which will be situated outside the Etihad Stadium’s East Stand.

Kompany, 35, the inspirational captain who lifted four Premier League titles after joining the club in a bargain £6million deal from Hamburg on the eve of the Abu Dhabi takeover in 2008, became manager of Anderlecht in 2019.

While David played 436 times for City, scoring 77 goals, providing 93 Premier League assists, the most in club history. He won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups and three Community Shields.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
