Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report of Pep Guardiola’s planned for Jack Grealish’s summer arrival at the Etihad.
The Premier League champions have been chasing the Aston Villa skipper for the majority of the summer as they aim to defend the Premier League title and also impress again in Europe next season.
The 25-year-old, who only signed a new five-year deal with the club in September, has aspirations of playing in the Champions League and it is thought he is keen to step up to the next level sooner rather than later.
Villa, by contrast, are hopeful he will commit to a new £200,000-a-week at his boyhood club, with his future set to be decided in the coming weeks.
According to the Athletic, Manchester City are at an ‘advanced stage’ with the Midlands club for the signing of the England international, with an agreement done over what the fee would be.
The report claims Guardiola is preparing for his potential arrival – in a deal likely to be worth £100million – and is planning on using him in the No. 8 role hoping to rotate him regularly with Ilkay Gundogan.
Guardiola wants to team up Grealish & Kevin De Bruyne in the midfield, so Jack Grealish will be Ilkay Gündogan’s direct competitor, if/when the Englishman is here.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
No. 8 Good for Grealish but I was hoping for Foden to play as no. 8 in Midfield.

What do you mean ? When Foden is fully fit again he’ll be back on the left wing. Grealish will come in and play in midfield l, this signing doesn’t affect Phil

Been calling for a while this is where Pep wants to play Grealish, as the long term David Silva replacement!

Rodri
KDB Grealish
Mahrez Foden Sterling
With the front 3 interchangeable. Kane in there as well hopefully.
Jack Grealish is a very brilliant player suitable for the role. But he is grossly overpriced. 100m is rather ridiculous. And if City falls for this sham, others watching will ensure they City pays it up in the future when they want their player. This will set a new precedent.

Jack doesn’t. Have the work rate to compete with Gundogan
