Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have reignited their interest in Barcelona versatile star Sergi Roberto, who is expected to be sold this summer.
Roberto, whose current contract at Camp Nou is due to expire in the summer of 2022, had a very underwhelming LaLiga campaign as Barcelona finished third under the management of Ronald Koeman.
He was limited to just 15 LaLiga appearances after being tested positive for Coronavirus and recurrent muscle injuries. When the full-back returned from a long injury layoff, he looked out of sorts often on the pitch.
Sport revealed in May that Barcelona were prepared to offload the 29-year-old in favour of committing to young Sergino Dest, and the same outlet has now claimed that City are back in the mix and are in ‘pole position’ for his signature.
According to Sport via Sport Witness, Pep Guardiola values his profile/professionalism, and Roberto is ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing for Man City, although his priority is to continue at Barca.
Pep Guardiola likes the 29-year-old, who can operate as a right-back and a midfielder, and thinks he fits in his system at the Etihad Stadium perfectly, the report adds.
The report claims Guardiola previously wanted Sergi Roberto and Manchester City tried to sign him last season but he refused as he wanted to wait and see if he was still in Barça’s plans.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
