Manchester City target Harry Kane has been tipped by Andros Townsend to complete a “deadline day” move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
City have been one of the many top European clubs to have been linked with Kane in recent weeks and the 27-year-old fueled speculation by admitting he could leave his boyhood club for a team capable of winning trophies.
The England captain is one of the best strikers in the world and has remained loyal to Spurs all his career. Europe’s top teams have targeted him for much of his time in London, but he always wanted to win trophies with Spurs.
Andros Townsend, who played with Kane at Tottenham, believes City is the best club for the England International as they are the only Premier League club who can “guarantee” him the trophies he craves, but he also said Daniel Levy will want to be heavily compensated and may wait until deadline day before agreeing a move.
“Kane wants that all-time Premier League scoring record, so he wants to stay in the Premier League. If that interview is anything to go by then he wants to win trophies. The only one club that’s guaranteed to win trophies is Man City,’ He told talkSPORT.
“There’s no one better than Pep Guardiola and Man City if you want guaranteed trophies. It’s got deadline day written all over it! Levy is going to squeeze any penny he can out of any buying club. For me, Kane’s worth £150m, but with Levy it could be anything.”
Kane has made 336 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham, scoring 221 goals with 47 assists. The 27-year-old has yet to win a trophy with Spurs and has been public in his desire to pick up silverware, so a move could indeed be on the cards.
