Ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, has claimed Manchester City ace Nathan Ake will jump at any chance to make an ‘amazing’ move to Tottenham Hotspur should the North Londoners decides to swoop for the defender.
Ake, who signed for Man City from Bournemouth last summer, has had somewhat of a rough ride since he was injured back on boxing day in our 2-0 against Newcastle.
Things haven’t gone as planned for the Dutchman at the Etihad Stadium 12 months after signing the Dutchman from now Championship side Bournemouth.
Due to the form of Ruben Dias and John Stones, he has made just 11 appearances in all competitions this season. He also finds himself stuck behind Aymeric Laporte in the pecking order.
Football Insider reported early this week that the Cityzens were prepared to let the Dutchman leave in the summer.
According to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, Ake fits the bill for the North Londoners, who are reportedly to sign two new centre-backs this summer.
“I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to join Tottenham if he’s going to get more game time,” he told Football Insider.
“Tottenham is a big club with a brand new stadium. I’m sure it’s going to be amazing there next season when they can get fans back in. They need a centre-back so it would make sense for both of them, definitely.
“Why wouldn’t you want to leave and play regular football? He’ll want to get himself back in the frame for his country too. Simple as. He’s not played a lot of games and I’m sure he’ll want more game time. I’d be surprised if he turned Spurs down.
“You’d have thought his value would have dropped, especially given the current situation with the finances because of Covid. A lot of players’ value might have dropped over the season.”
