Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the Cityzens are monitoring Ajax left-back star Nicolas Tagliafico.
The 28-year-old has consistently been linked with a move away from Amsterdam over the last couple of seasons but has thus far remained with the Dutch giants.
Left back has been an issue for City for a few years now, with Benjamin Mendy suffering injury after injury after injury. Oleksandr Zinchenko has done a fine job filling in when necessary, but he’s not the marquee full back City will be looking for moving forward.
According to Diario AS via Football Oranje, Manchester City are keen on the full-back, having ‘maintained contacts’ and been ‘very close’ to the player on more than one occasion.
The report claims Leeds United and Inter Milan were the last two sides to enquire about the quality Argentine’s availability.
Ajax have reportedly named an asking price of around €15M for the 28-year-old, with Atletico Madrid also in the running.
Tagliafico’s been at Ajax since January 2018 and has made 137 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the better full-backs outside of Europe’s top five leagues.
The left-back scored five times and provided seven assists from 38 outings last season and has so far contributed a goal and three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions this term.
It remains to be seen what City do in the summer, but it’s clear City need a new left back with Benjamin Mendy completely not convincing in recent seasons.
Zinchenko and the recent form of Joao Cancelo may have provided yet another short-term solution, but a competent true left-back is needed at the club.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Many man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
I’d be happy with this

It’s 15 mill 🤷♂️ rather him than signing Mendes at 80 as a gamble based on talent

Signing Nico for thr short term, while also going for Nuno wouldn’t be bad, plus the loan back to Sporting would be good for his development. But this isn’t FIFA

Would prefer Mendes Tbh

15m would be a really good deal on him. Mendes, Hernandez and Guerrero will all cost an absolute fortune and if they’re putting the bulk of their funds in to a striker, Tagliafico would be a great bit of business.

Nahh I’ll rather have Guereiro,Mendes or Lodi

Would be a great option but I wish they would go for Theo Hernandez
