Manchester City midfield target Manuel Locatelli has revealed that joining a club outside of Italy would be a ‘potential option’ for him in the future.
Pep Guardiola is said to be reportedly keen on Locatelli replacing Fernandinho at the end of the season as the Brazilian comes towards the end of his career.
The 23 year-old Italy international has developed into one of the best central midfielders in Serie A. Despite a decent two seasons with Sassuolo, Locatelli could be set for a big move.
Speaking during an interview with newspaper Corriere dello Sport this week, Locatelli who continues to be linked with a number of big clubs including Manchester City, says he feels ready to take the next step.
“Yes. I have grown up and I am ready. Call from abroad? Why not? It is an option and I do not exclude anything. I don’t like to talk much about the transfer market, my agents and the Sassuolo management deal with it,’ he said.
“I don’t know if this will be my last year here and what the future holds for me. When and if there are opportunities, we will evaluate them all together. Attestations of esteem and interest from large companies increase my motivation.”
As relayed by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Locatelli said when asked about interest from the Premier League side, “I feel ready for a top club and also joining a foreign club is a potential option for me, why not? When there are opportunities, I will think about my future.”
