Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has vow sign Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero on a free transfer this summer.
The Argentina striker’s contract at the Etihad expires on June 30 and until now there has been no indication that the club will extend his deal, as a result his future has been the subject of speculation recently.
With no update on a new contract, the Argentina looks set to depart the Etihad at the end of the season and Barcelona have been linked with a move, with Inter Milan also reportedly interested in signing the striker.
According to the Times, Laporta, who is favourite to win in the upcoming elections as Barcelona’s president is eyeing signing Sergio Aguero this offseason on a free deal.
Laporta has already vowed to keep Messi at the club should he win the elections and believes signing Sergio Aguero would help Barcelona.
Messi’s future beyond this season remains uncertain as he comes towards the end of his contract. Paris Saint-Germain and Man City have been strongly linked with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
