Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports to yet another update on Barcelona forward Lionel Messi’s potential move to the Etihad.
With the legendary forward out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season, the Cityzens have been strongly linked with a potential move for him on a free transfer.
The Six-time Ballon d’Or winner is now free to talk to clubs outside Spain about a summer move, with Man City reportedly the most likely destination for the Argentine.
Daily Star recently reported that French giants PSG have made the first move, with the publication claiming the Ligue 1 champions have offered Messi a staggering £40m signing-on fee as well as a £800,000-a-week basic salary.
According to ESPN, Manchester City are still tracking Barcelona’s Messi and are planning a less aggressive tactic to acquire legendary forward’s signature in the summer.
The report claims that the premier league club will wait until March or April before sounding out the situation regarding the Barcelona forward.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have have expressing their thoughts and opinions.
Here’s what some fans have been saying.
This is how it should be. As crazy as it sounds, we don't need him but if he does decide to not make many demands and doesn't ask absurd wages then I'd still go for it. Especially considering how much money he also bring in with marketing and sponserships.

@ManCity need to make an amazing offer to Messi, 2-3 years in England and however long he wants in the US for r sister club. He would transform the brand and Man City fan base would be worldwide

I’m not sure if Barca realise low lucky they’ve been for hitting the Messi jackpot. If he leaves, their whole financial structure will crumble. He is singlehandedly responsible for a ton of their viewership, sponsorships and merchandising revenue

the kind of money we’ll get from the Messi brand my God

Again I will say this. He is not coming. He is waiting for the new president of Barcelona FC to be determined then his father/agent will negotiate from a position of strength. If he wanted to leave he could speak to other teams now but chooses not too. That tells you a lot.

I wish they would drop it and move on to someone actually worth it
