Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club will prioritise signing a new centre-forward during this summer’s transfer window, and have enough ‘funds available’ to make earth-shaking move for La Liga star Lionel Messi.
Pep Guardiola’s side who were reported to be favorite to sign the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, have surprisingly struggled to find their rhythm in the final third, with the usually free-scoring attack being a propblem.
The Citizens are a team which always want to dominate the game and attack, especially under the management of Pep Guardiola. Their recent resurgence in form is largely down to the strength of their defence, keeping more clean sheets and conceding fewer goals than the rest of the teams in the league.
To ensure that chances are converted into goals next season, the Citizens are expected to be in the market for a new striker at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City’s priority ahead of the 2021-22 campaign is to sign a new striker, with Guardiola content with his options in defence and midfield.
The report claims that Manchester City have the funds to sign Lionel Messi this summer should he be available on a free transfer.
The report also mention Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland, who has recently been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad as a target. The Norwegian is commanding a lot of attention with his prolific record continuing at Bundesliga.
There is growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Sergio Aguero, but the report suggested that a decision is still to be made on the legendary Argentine’s contract.
In reaction to the report shared on twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, plenty of Sky Blues have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

Give Aguero a new contract. Sign Messi. Sign Haaland. Easy for Txiki

Don’t prioritize Messi id rather we think about the future of aguero contract and maybe haaland but we are already fine

Couldn’t care less about Messi, watch Aguero play a few times before making any decisions, Haaland should always be our priority

It's tine for new blood. Haaland IN. AGUERO be given the legendary send off he deserves. He is a great striker but 70% of the time he is either injured, sick and his age means City have to start planning for the future. Haaland could be the last piece for winning CL. My F view

city fans would prioritize Leo over haaland which is fair but for one they could play together and two signing Messi on a free would be wonderful business even at his age and wages

Nevermind that haaland would cost a lot lot more this summer compared to his release clause in 2022
Messi would generate greater finance than Haaland would generate for his whole damn career. Messi change how the whole world view City. People would be waking up at 4 AM to watch city in my country 🇭🇹🇭🇹. You get to sign the 🐐 you do it.

Haaland should be number 1 option if we don’t get him now we won’t have the option to get him again
