Ruben Dias made an impressive home debut for Manchester City on Saturday evening in their match against Arsenal – a game that ultimately ended with a win over Arsenal at the Etihad thanks to a first-half Raheem Sterling goal.
Playing at the heart of Pep Guardiola’s three-man defense (without wing-backs), Dias did well to marshal the unconventional system and was key in City recording their first clean sheet of the season.
He was Composed under pressure and there was barely a moment where he did not look in control of the situation. He made sure he was in the right place to cut out a dangerous Arsenal attack on the cusp of half-time.
The former Benfica man was real presence defending set-pieces, did well to provide cover across the back line and gave the side aerial strength. Even though he was booked for a physical block on Saka, He has slotted straight in to life at City.
Although he has played just two games for City, some fans have already made comparisons between Dias and club legend Vincent Kompany but its too early and unfair to compare both players.
The victory was a welcome return to winning ways for City, after failing to win our previous two Premier League matches against Leicester City and Leeds.

This man reminds me the good old times with vinnie in our defence

He’s the closest thing to a Vincent kompany like figure. Leader, strong in the air, dominates the 6 yard box. Why in the hell didn’t we go for him last summer

I think he’s more prepared now, solid with 23, not too young not too old, right age… let’s enjoy him before he decides to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona since Portuguese like moving to different clubs in their career

What a beast he is. The league ain’t ready for Laporte-Dias partnership once he settles even more

If you take strengths from Otamendi, Laporte, Kompany and Stones, you get Ruben Dias.
