Ferran Torres made an impressive champions League game for Manchester City on tuesday evening in their match against Marseille – a game that ultimately ended with a 3-0 win at the Stade Vélodrome.
The 20-year-old, signed in the summer from Valencia, played as a central striker in France, a change from his usual wide position.
But he was superb throughout, scoring City’s opener and providing a constant threat with his pace and quick feet.
His performance was an encouraging signs from the young man expected to fill Leroy Sane’s boots. His pace gave the Marseille defence problems from an unexpected role as the central forward, and timed his run perfectly for the goal
Guardiola was so full of praise for Torres’ performance.
“He has settled really well, Ferran is not a striker. I would congratulate him for making the effort to play in this position” he said. “.
“He scored the goal. It is not easy as a striker against five defenders. We don’t have many options until Sergio and Gabriel come back, so we had an alternative playing Ferran in this position.”
The Spaniard has averaged a goal or assist every 54 minutes in a City shirt, with three goals and two assists from just seven appearances.

Rather Torres play striker since he’s a lot more direct and have sterling back on the right after that performance against Marseille 👏🏾👏🏾

Took Sané close to half a year to finally settle in, took Ferran less a month. Awesome!👏🏼
