Manchester City teenager Liam Delap could be parachuted in for a Premier League debut against Leicester on Sunday.
With Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero on the sidelines, Pep Guardiola could potentially hands 17-year-old Liam Delap with a huge opportunity to make his mark in the first-team.
“We don’t have Sergio. We don’t have Gabriel. We have Liam, Cole Palmer can play as a striker too. We will see.” said Guardiola.
“Gabriel has the injury against Wolves so will be out for one month. Sergio is running a bit but could not make one training session with us. Hopefully in one month he comes back. But we have many options.”
It would be a lot of pressure on the 17-year-old – physically as well as mentally – but he and Felix Nmecha are the only natural strikers available.
Still just 17,Delap has now propelled himself into the history books by making an immediate impact on his debut in the Carabao Cup match.
He is cool, composed, and looked absolutely ready for the first team. With Sergio Agüero always injured, he proved himself worthy of a regular bench role in the near future
Pep Guardiola is likely to use Raheem Sterling, City’s 31-goal top scorer last season, as a false nine in the absence of City’s record scorer and his regular understudy.

The fact he’s playing youngers is very good, we have been wanting our youth to get involved. Delap and palmer could show what they really are about. Next up braaf, hopefully he comes out of injury quick.

Imagine Pep start Delap and he bag a hatrick. I will buy 10 city shirts and wear all at the same time.

Pep’s favorite line “we have many options.” 🤣🤣

This is actually a surprise, usually he says we have many options and lists the likes of sterling and Bernardo being able to play there
