Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that Txiki Begiristain is taking advantage of his time in Barcelona to negotiate a deal for one of Sevilla’s defenders.
City’s need for a centre-half is a priority this summer, after the problems encountered in the wake of Vincent Kompany’s retirement this summer. Despite the £41m capture of Ake from Bournemouth already, defender still remain the priority with Kalidou Koulibaly the main target.
According to El Larguero as relayed by Sport Witness, City Chief Begiristain who travelled to Barça to negotiate a deal for Lionel Messi has made good use of his spare time negotiating with Sevilla for their defender Diego Carlos, while waiting for the 33-year-old to work out his issues with Barcelona before pushing to pull off a transfer .
The report adds that there has been no progress on that front though but he would presumably be an alternative to the Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly.
Diego Carlos is one of the defender strongly linked with a move to the Etihad amongst José Giménez, Upamecano, Milan Skriniar, Nathan Ake and Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, as Pep Guardiola looks to sign a quality centre back pairing for Aymeric Laporte.
.
Carlos, who was from French club Nantes for a reported £13.5 million last summer, has established himself as one of La Liga’s best-performing centre-backs.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
I hope it’s not Diego Carlos, he is same as Otamendi.— Ahmed Arif (@Ahmed_zari32) September 1, 2020
He’s basically Otamendi.— Nana Boa-Appiah (@NBA_GH) September 1, 2020
🤦🏻♂️ please not Carlos. I’d rather Mangala back— City Fan (@ManCity_FanView) September 1, 2020
Diego Carlos is a better passer but he did have a difficult Europa League. I like Koulibaly but I would definitely take Diego Carlos.— Ngozulu Matondo 🇩🇴☸️ (@ajagbeadewole) September 1, 2020
He reminds me so much of Otamendi. He’s has had a great season, but the couple of games in the tournament did scare me also. Def a warrior but has a mistake in him. Perfect for city eh— 🇧🇼Phil Pickles 🇧🇼 (@PicklesPhilip) September 1, 2020

Honestly Carlos isn’t a bad option if ADL is continuing to be an asshole. Guy was reckless but under Guardiola he’d be fine. He can play the ball well, he’s quick (which is vital in the PL, especially with Man City’s high line) and he seems like a good leader. Kalidou> though.— oli #FreeMessi (@aymericcc_) September 1, 2020
Diego Carlos is way better than koulibaly . Believe me dude he is a monster defender— Ervis Kovaci (@ervis_kovaci) September 1, 2020
DONT WORRY, we are just putting pressure on napoli to sell koulibaly, HES COMING HOME!!💙💙 pic.twitter.com/oa4zC2YHLh— Legion (@ImLegi) September 1, 2020
