“Disappointing if true” – Fans react to Manchester City interest in Leon Bailey as Leroy Sane’s replacement

Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that the club have identified Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey as a replacement for Leroy Sane

City have been keeping tabs on the Jamaican for some time and have maintained their interest since then.  Leon Bailey is keen on a move to Manchester City, as he is ‘very interested in playing under’ Pep Guardiola.

According to footmercato via Sport_Witness, Manchester City have turned their attention to Leon Bailey, and have ‘gathered all the information’ they need, including the competition they might face. Pep Guardiola has ‘already exchanged’ with the winger personally to ‘present his project to him’.

Bailey who has scored 12 Bundesliga goals since the beginning of last season offers an option that could see him develop over a longer period and craft his trade to emulate Sane’s role.

Like Sane, he uses acceleration and speed to beat defenders. But if he was to sign for City he would probably need time before making an impact.

Yea but he instantly can’t fill Sane’s boots first thing out of the academy. We have to be patient here. Call him up. Sign another experienced winger. Gradually start giving him game time and build him up.

“I could well be proven wrong, but I’m not sure this lad is even the best winger at Leverkusen”, claimed one fan.

Another tweet said:”Disappointing if true. Rarely been impressed when I’ve watched him. Would much rather we went for Wilfried Zaha as he has the pace and experience of the Prem”

Another tweet said: “Think pep will stick to what we have. He’s played Foden on the wing more recently instead of CAM. Plus Bailey looks rubbish… Watched him a few times in the bundesliga. He even got subbed off at half time the other day if I remember right.”
