Txiki Begiristain, the director of football at Manchester City since 2012, has played a key role in numerous transfer deals and the appointment of Pep Guardiola as manager. With his imminent departure from the club at the end of the season, there is speculation about one potential final transfer deal he could make. Begiristain is reportedly a big fan of Manchester City transfer target, Adam Wharton, a midfielder from Crystal Palace. City were linked with Wharton in the summer, and the player could be a target in the upcoming January transfer window, especially with the injury to midfielder Rodri.
Wharton is valued at £100m by Crystal Palace, an amount similar to what City paid for Jack Grealish in 2021. Begiristain has a history of bringing players from other Premier League clubs to City, and a move for Wharton in January could be his final transfer masterstroke before leaving the club.
