Manchester City’s hopes of winning major silverware have taken a hit with the news that midfielder Rodri has suffered a serious injury, ruling him out for the season. The extent of the injury will be confirmed after further tests in Spain, but sources close to the player suggest it could be a long-term absence. With Rodri being hailed as City’s most important player, manager Pep Guardiola will need to find alternatives to fill the void left by the Spaniard.

However, the fitness and effectiveness of these replacements remain to be seen, as City look to cope with the loss of Rodri and maintain their title challenge.
