Manchester City has managed to score goals without Erling Haaland, a reason why pundit Glenn Murray has praised the team for their performance during the period when Haaland was out due to an ankle injury.
Although Haaland is now back in action, Murray acknowledged that City had been able to cope even without their talisman and found ways to score in his absence.
Murray made these remarks as he spoke on Football Focus, highlighting that players like Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne had stepped up in Haaland’s absence, and once Haaland finds his form, City would be a force to reckon with.
He said: “When you see Phil Foden hitting hat-tricks and Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings in midfield, Man City only really need to get one man back fit and firing and it looks like it could be all over.
“Once Erling Haaland finds the back of the net they’ll be cooking, won’t they?
“But one surprising fact is that they have scored 39 goals since Haaland’s last competitive goal, so even without him they have dealt really well and found ways to score.”
The team managed to score 39 goals during the time when Haaland was out. Players such as Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden made substantial contributions to the team’s goal tally during that period.
City managed to win four out of five Premier League games during the time Haaland was sidelined, demonstrating their ability to score goals and secure victories even without their star striker. Haaland’s return to form was evident in his most recent appearance, where he scored both goals in City’s 2-0 win over Everton.
While Murray commended the team for their performance without Haaland, he emphasized the importance of keeping up the momentum even with the striker back in action. The team’s ability to continue scoring goals, with or without Haaland, will play a crucial role in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
Ultimately, City’s performance in Haaland’s absence reflects positively on the team and their capability to adapt and score goals through the efforts of various players.
As they continue their season, the combination of Haaland’s return to form and the team’s collective goal-scoring ability will undoubtedly strengthen their title bid.
