Manchester City star Aymeric Laporte has endorsed a petition to remove his team-mate Erling Haaland from football altogether following his ridiculous form in front of goal this season.
The 22-year-old forward, who joined reigning Premier League champions Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund this summer after the club agreed to pay his £64 million release clause, penned a five-year deal at the Etihad worth a reported £375,000-a-week.
And the Norwegian phenomenon has already repaid some of that transfer fee with a quite staggering start to life in Manchester. In his first 14 games under Pep Guardiola, Haaland has netted 20 goals in total, including three consecutive home hat-tricks in the league.
English Premier League defenders have yet to find a way to stop Erling Haaland from scoring goals.
Some soccer fans, however, think they’ve found the answer – ban him from playing altogether.
“It’s just simply not fair,” user Ten Hag’s Reds! wrote on the Change.org page. “We can make a change. Now is the time for us people to act. This robot should not be allowed to carry on in our country.”
The Change.org petition was filed by none other than user ‘ Ten Hag ‘s Reds!’. I’m sure he’s approached this without any bias whatsoever.
Despite being created as a joke, as many as over 400k people have actually signed it.
And now defender Laporte has joined in, uploading his own screenshot to Twitter with the ‘Premier League’ etched out and ‘football’ written in its place.
