Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is considering delaying a decision on extending his contract at the club until 2025. Guardiola, who has been with Manchester City since 2016, has started preparations for his ninth season with the team and could potentially make the upcoming campaign his last at the Etihad Stadium as his contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Guardiola led Manchester City to a fourth consecutive Premier League title in May, along with victories in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. The team is set to compete in expanded editions of both the Club World Cup and UEFA Champions League in the upcoming season, with their first match being against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield.
The decision on Guardiola’s future with Manchester City may not be made until the final weeks of the season, as he reportedly intends to wait until between November and February to make a decision. The club executives have proposed a new deal to Guardiola to secure his stay amid concerns of losing him. Both Guardiola and sporting director Txiki Begiristain have been linked with a possible departure from the club in 2025.
