Manchester City are reportedly making a late intervention in a bid to convince Bernardo Silva to extend his stay at the club.
Silva starred for the Sky Blues last season as City secured the historic Treble by winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup, but has been tipped for a potential exit.
The riches of Saudi Arabia have piqued Silva’s interest who has been offered a deal that would see him earn over €70m-per-season, with Al-Hilal pushing hard to bring the winger to the Kingdom.
It has been reported that in order to quell the impending doom that Saudi Arabia pose, Manchester City intend to offer an improved contract to Bernardo Silva.
This comes from the Times, as it has been claimed that the £43 million (BBC Sport) man is keen on a move to the Saudi Pro League.
The reports claims that conversations over City rejecting a €70million offer from PSG included a promise from Guardiola not to block a transfer if Silva chose to leave this summer.
Silva’s existing deal still has two years to run, meaning that City could command a hefty transfer fee for the Treble-winning star. However, the club appear keen to ward off any clubs interested in entering negotiations.
Pep Guardiola, the City gaffer, had previously hailed Silva as “one of the best players I have trained in my life, ever.” Guardiola’s admiration for Silva is no secret.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@go6don: “Really really hope this is true, I don’t think his wife will let him accept it tho, she hates Manchester weather and wants a warmer climate.”
@milanmahat: “Give him what he wants, we cannot replace him. He is very essential player to play at AM and winger. KDB could injure more now.”
@JackBes62319432: “This will be the best contract extension of the season.”
@StormFalcon657: “Keep him please, don’t let him leave.”
