A Premier League legend who played for Manchester City and Arsenal, Patrick Vieira has said the English national team stand a chance to win the Euro 2024 with a Man City superstar in the team.
The former player and ex-manager of Crystal Palace said, with Phil Foden amidst the England national squad, they are one of the favourites to bring the European cup home.
Phil Foden has received many commendations from football pundits for his performances for Manchester City last campaign. The England international won the league with City for the fourth consecutive time and his incredible displays at crucial times attracted attention from the media.
Despite that Manchester City are a team of superstars, Foden managed to stand out from the rest and won the English Premier Player of the season and FWA Player of the Year award as a reward for his contributions.
Speaking about England’s chances at the European Championships, Vieira said England has many talented players, particularly Phil Foden who surprised him during the concluded campaign.
“Obviously, they have the quality of talented players to do it because I’m amazed by Phil Foden, what he’s been doing,” he said.
Pep Guardiola Described Foden As World Class
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said Phil Foden is now a world-class player after improving his game beyond imagination. He added that he will go down as a legend of the game and Manchester City.
“Right now, he is the best (in the league),’ Guardiola said. ‘To be world-class you have to win games. He’s winning games. Always he scored goals, but now he’s winning games. When you do this you reach another level as a player,” Pep said after City defeated their rivals Manchester United 3-1.
“He will already be a legendary player because at his age, the games played, the minutes, the goals scored, the titles won and he is from here and that is why the connection with the fans is unbelievable.”
