Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was a guest of honor at the Royal Box at Wimbledon, alongside other global sports stars. Guardiola led Manchester City to their fourth consecutive Premier League title in May and was invited to the Wimbledon Royal Box by the All England Club for Sporting Saturday at the Championships. This marked Guardiola’s 17th major trophy at Manchester City, having joined the club in 2016 from Bayern Munich.
Guardiola became only the second head coach to win the treble last year, achieving success in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and Emirates FA Cup with Manchester City. The team also secured both the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup during the recent 2023/24 season. Guardiola is gearing up for his ninth campaign at the Etihad, with preparations for the 2024/25 season including a tour of the United States and a Premier League title defense against Chelsea next month.
The Royal Box at Wimbledon has a long-standing history of hosting esteemed guests, including the Royal Family and this year’s group of iconic athletes. Guardiola was accompanied by sports personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, Roy Hodgson, Leah Williamson, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler. The Royal Box also featured Olympic stars and other sports legends, totaling 88 guests according to The Sun, making it a gathering of sporting excellence across various disciplines.
