Mikel Arteta refuses to give up on Premier League title race even though Arsenal can only become champions if Manchester City, the league leader, slip up against West Ham United.

The Gunners are two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side heading to the final matchday. Therefore, a victory for Manchester City will mean that Mikel Arteta’s men will continue waiting for their first-ever Premier League title in 20 years.

Even though the title is not in their hand, the former Pep Guardiola assistant who has done incredibly well at Arsenal believes that anything can happen on Sunday and that they have a chance to become the champions ahead of the Cityzens.

He conceded that they must also overcome Everton, who are currently in outstanding form, and subsequently rely on a favorable outcome from the West Ham versus Manchester City fixture.

“The hope was there and it didn’t happen. Now we have to do our job which is going to be tough because Everton are in a good moment. It’s one of the biggest weeks for sure for many of us. Certainly now is the most important moment. Can’t wait for Sunday to be in front of us. Very optimistic for the possible outcome,” the Arsenal boss said.

“So we have to prove again that we can be better than the opponent and win the game. We have to wish for the best and wish for West Ham to have a really good day and help us to fulfil our dream.”

Man City are undoubtedly the favourites to win the match, particularly with their impressive records against West Ham in the Premier League. The Cityzens are undefeated against the Hammers in their last 18 league matches. They won 15 and drew the remaining 3.

The most recent defeat against David Moyes’ side was in the fourth round of the league cup in 2021. Therefore, another victory for Pep Guardiola’s men is much expected on Sunday.
