Well, negotiations over a temporary deal between Man City and Newcastle have stalled as the Sky Blues demand a hefty loan fee of £7.5m – which the Magpies are hesitant to pay.

Man City also want Newcastle to contribute significantly to the England international’s £130,000-a-week wages.

The Chronicle believe Man City are wary of seeing Phillips decrease in value if things go badly for him on Tyneside, hence the sizeable loan fee request.
