Manchester City will be missing several key players for their upcoming pre-season tour of the United States, as many first-team regulars are being given rest following international tournaments. The Blues are scheduled to play friendlies against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea before their Premier League title defence begins next month against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Players like Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish are expected to be involved in the tour, but others like Kevin De Bruyne and Ruben Dias have been granted an extended break.

The majority of Guardiola’s squad won’t return to training until the week of the FA Community Shield, with players like De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Ruben Dias having a month off. The returns of those involved in the Euro’s final and Copa America final are still being discussed. Manchester City were the last Premier League club to return for pre-season, with Guardiola typically giving players extended breaks at the end of the season. The travelling squad to the USA is likely to consist mostly of academy talent, although players like Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic could be included in some capacity.

Manchester City’s upcoming matches in the United States will take place in North Carolina, New York, Orlando, and Ohio. Players like Rodri and Julian Alvarez have enjoyed success in their respective international competitions this summer, with Rodri sustaining a suspected hamstring injury during the European Championship final. The pre-season tour will provide an opportunity for players to prepare for the upcoming season, with the majority of the squad expected to be academy talent.
