Manchester City and RB Leipzig have now finally reached an agreement on a fee for the transfer of centre-back Josko Gvardiol.

City entered the summer transfer window with Gvardiol as one of their priorities, so much so that they reportedly agreed to personal terms with the 21-year-old a month ago.

This evening, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that City and Leipzig have finally reached an agreement for the transfer of Gvardiol.

It is further revealed that Gvardiol completed the first part of his Manchester City medical tests on Wednesday.

All that remains is for Gvardiol to complete the rest of his medical and for the two clubs to rubber-stamp the transfer agreement.

It is thought that the deal could be worth £86m, which would be a world record transfer fee for a defender.

Pep Guardiola and his first-team squad flew out to Japan on Wednesday for their pre-season tour, so Gvardiol will presumably join them in the coming days.

The 21-year-old will become the second Croatian player to join Pep Guardiola’s side this summer after City brought in Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.
