Manchester City has reportedly made a bid for RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, along with Barcelona. While sources in the UK had previously stated that Olmo wasn’t a target for City, the recent sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid may have changed the situation. Olmo, a Spanish international, is currently in talks with Leipzig about his future.
The 26-year-old attacker had a €60m release clause in his contract that expired last month, but reports suggest Leipzig are still willing to sell him for a similar fee. Barcelona’s previous bids for Olmo included unreachable add-ons, leading to negotiation difficulties. City, who don’t need another playmaker with Silva and De Bruyne staying, may be considering Olmo as a potential option to replace Alvarez in the squad.
It is uncertain whether City’s pursuit of Olmo will be successful, especially with competition from Barcelona. The Spanish midfielder could offer versatility in the squad, being able to play as a No.10 or on the wing. However, with the main focus on providing competition for Haaland, City may ultimately opt for a more traditional forward as a replacement.
