Pep Guardiola kept his response short and sweet when asked about Facundo Pellistri’s brutal Manchester City dig.
The winger suggested that Sky Blues fans are hard to come by in Manchester, adding an extra element of tension ahead of this weekend’s derby.
Pellistri certainly didn’t mince his words when asked about life in the north of England. Speaking to Uruguayan radio station Carve Deportiva, he stated: “Manchester is all about United.
“You don’t see City shirts or flags. Sometimes, with my girlfriend, we go out and say ‘let’s try to find one’ and we don’t see them.”
Guardiola was asked for his take on the remarks during his press conference on Friday afternoon.
But not wishing to get drawn into a firefight with the 21-year-old, he bluntly responded: “It’s okay. if this guy and his girlfriend believe that, it’s fine.”
“I will speak with the Puma department, and ask, ‘What happened? Why we don’t have shirts [in Manchester]?'”
However, his comments didn’t go down well with City supporters, who will be desperate to silence Pellistri with a dominant display at Old Trafford.
@Geoorge_17: “I thought he will say “who” but this is also good ”
@DivineDDT: “I still don’t know who Pellistri is ”
@MindFreak112: “Pellistri needs to be more worried about getting game time in the first team rather than worry about how many City jerseys he sees in Manchester”
@Cityjoul123: “Maybe Pellistri can stop going around Manchester and focus on training more so people can see Man United on the league table without scrolling down next time.”
@mason_knows: “They’ll be humbled on Sunday.”
