Despite being a key player in his second season at the club, he acknowledges that some of his teammates do not receive enough credit, with attacking superstars like Haaland and De Bruyne often dominating the headlines. Gvardiol himself has started to earn plaudits for his performances, which have also led to silverware in his debut season at City.
In an interview, Gvardiol praised City loanee Kalvin Phillips as an underrated player, citing his qualities on and off the ball. Despite Phillips’ struggles at City, Gvardiol’s high opinion of him could be attributed to the time they spent training together. Phillips has since become a regular starter at Ipswich Town on loan, and Gvardiol believes he deserves more attention for his abilities, highlighting the unpredictability of football and the lack of recognition for certain players.
