Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender, believes that Phil Foden is the most naturally talented player England has at their disposal. Pep Guardiola, City’s manager, also had positive comments about the 23-year-old, describing him as a “special talent.” Recently, Micah Richards also claimed that the treble-winner is gifted to an extent that a majority of players cannot even reach his calibre with plenty of hard work and dedication.
According to Joleon Lescott, aside from his outstanding talent, Foden also possesses a natural desire to win, linking him to Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. Meanwhile, Nedum Onuoha claimed that the five-time Premier League winner could be Manchester City’s most technical player.
Jamie Carragher believes Phil Foden may be the most naturally talented English player. After Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Brentford, Carragher expressed during his Sky Sports interview that Foden’s natural talents remains unmatchable, perhaps only being rivalled by Jude Bellingham.
In fact, Jamie Carragher made the assertive statement, saying, “you’d probably say there’s no one who can really go against up against him, maybe [Jude] Bellingham in the England team.”
Foden has shown great potential and unique talent, comparable to that of an all-time great like Wayne Rooney. His display of versatility and intelligence has demonstrated his ability to thrive in any position on the field, whether that be behind the striker, up top, or out wide.
Carragher is spot on the money about just how unique of a talent Phil Foden is. It’s fair to say that, since Rooney, England has not produced a technical phenom like Foden. Both talented footballers, Bellingham and Foden, with the later having the edge as far as technicalities are concerned. Foden’s exceptional talent and natural abilities certainly put him on a level above his peers.
