Manchester City is set to have Sporting CP’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, replace Txiki Begiristain at the club at the end of the season, following Begiristain’s reported departure after a 13-year stint. Additionally, Denmark manager Brian Riemer believes that Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand has the qualities to play for top English clubs such as Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, with a potential move to City on the cards.

Hjulmand, who has been linked with a £69m move to Manchester United, has impressed since joining Sporting in 2023, with Viana possibly using his connections at the club to help City secure a deal for the Danish international. With City set to face Sporting in the Champions League, this could serve as an opportunity for the Blues to assess Hjulmand as a potential transfer target for the future.
