Marco Asensio, who has played for Real Madrid and now Paris Saint-Germain, recently named Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva as a player he admires in the Premier League. Despite never featuring in the Premier League himself, Asensio has played alongside top players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Karim Benzema.
In a video shared on brfootball’s Tik Tok channel, Asensio expressed his admiration for Silva when asked about which current Premier League player he likes. The 29-year-old Silva has been linked with a move to PSG in the past, suggesting that Asensio is not the only one at the French club who admires the City star.
Back in the 2017 summer transfer window, City paid £43m to sign Silva from Monaco. Since then, the Portuguese international has made 339 appearances for City, scoring 63 goals and providing 64 assists across all competitions. Asensio witnessed Silva’s talent firsthand when he was on the bench as Silva scored two goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League last season.
Described by Pep Guardiola as one of the best players he has ever coached, Silva’s performance last season helped City win the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League. He even ranked ninth in the 2023 Ballon d’Or standings among his City teammates. This showcases just how special of a player Silva is.
Asensio’s admiration for Silva adds to the long list of accolades and praise that the Manchester City midfielder has received. With his impressive track record and skill on the field, it is clear why Silva is admired by players like Asensio and revered by his coach and teammates.
