In his latest column for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton expressed his belief that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is set to find his goalscoring form again soon. After being sidelined due to an ankle injury, the 23-year-old Norwegian made his first Premier League start for the Citizens in a 3-1 victory over Brentford on Monday night. Despite playing for 86 minutes, Haaland was unable to add to his 14-goal tally for the season, although he did provide an assist for Phil Foden’s goal.
Looking ahead to Manchester City’s upcoming fixture against Everton at the Etihad Stadium, Sutton predicted that Haaland would soon rediscover his form. “Manchester City are going to take some stopping now, but they do need Erling Haaland to find his shooting boots. Everything is going to click for him again soon, though, it is just a question of when,” he remarked.
Sutton’s prediction is underpinned by Haaland’s impressive goal record at the start of the season, where he scored 14 goals across City’s first 13 league games. As City aims to clinch the Premier League title for the fourth time in a row, Haaland’s goals are expected to play a crucial role in the team’s success. If the striker can find the back of the net in the upcoming game against Everton, this could potentially boost his confidence and allow him to regain his scoring touch.
Haaland’s return to form will undoubtedly be a crucial factor as Manchester City strives to make history this season. With their sights set on securing the championship, the team will be looking to Haaland to deliver his trademark goals, which could contribute significantly to City’s success this season.
