Manchester City is set to discuss a potential transfer with the sporting director of Fenerbahce regarding Mateo Kovacic, who faces an uncertain future despite only joining the club the previous summer. The 30-year-old Croatian midfielder is expected to return to training with Manchester City and will be present in the United States for pre-season content against AC Milan after facing Celtic in North Carolina.
Turkish media reports suggest that Fenerbahce is interested in signing Kovacic, and their sporting director will fly to England for transfer talks with both the player and Manchester City. The club, managed by Jose Mourinho, is considering making an attempt to sign Kovacic, who City secured from Chelsea in a deal worth around £30 million last summer to replace Ilkay Gundogan who left for FC Barcelona.
Manchester City also recruited Portugal international Matheus Nunes last summer and could potentially make further signings in the center of the park this season to provide cover for defensive midfield and to plan for creative options in the future. The club is looking to strengthen its midfield options following injuries and departures to ensure a successful season ahead.
