Former Premier League manager Tim Sherwood has boldly stated that Liverpool will have no chance of beating Manchester City in their upcoming match.
This comes as both teams are gearing up to face off at Anfield after securing victories in their midweek European games.
Sherwood expressed his doubts about Liverpool’s ability to secure a win, citing Manchester City’s formidable midfield as a key factor.
He said: “I don’t see Liverpool winning the game tomorrow, I really don’t. I think Man City’s midfield is far too strong for Liverpool’s at the moment.
He emphasized the importance of having star player Mo Salah fit and playing a significant role in the game for Liverpool to stand a chance against City.
Despite Liverpool currently sitting above City in the league table and boasting better defensive and offensive stats this season, Sherwood remains unconvinced of their chances.
He pointed out City’s dominance in the midfield area, with players like Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden showcasing exceptional form in the Premier League.
“I see Man City dominating the ball in the midfield areas, the likes of Rodri, [Kevin] De Bruyne and [Phil] Foden at the moment – just incredible, probably the form player in the Premier League at the moment.”
Interestingly, Liverpool has shown strength in their ability to make tackles in the midfield third, indicating that they may pose a significant challenge to City in this aspect of the game.
However, Sherwood’s prediction stands in contrast to Liverpool’s historical success against City at Anfield.
As the match approaches, the spotlight is on whether Liverpool can overcome City’s midfield prowess and emerge victorious.
Sherwood’s comments have ignited anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter between these two top-tier Premier League clubs.
Despite the odds stacked against them, Liverpool will undoubtedly be looking to defy Sherwood’s predictions and secure a crucial win on home turf.
