Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will be looking to bolster his squad in an effort to help his side repeat their treble next term.
Last season the Citizens won a third consecutive Premier League title, as well as the FA Cup and a first ever Champions League triumph.
Guardiola’s side became just the second team, after Manchester United in 1999, to win all three trophies in the same season.
Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has since left the club, while Mateo Kovacic has arrived at The Etihad from rivals Chelsea in a deal worth a reported £30 million.
While Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez as well as Kyle Walker has all been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.
It appears that City are determined to keep hold of Walker. The England international’s current deal is set to expire next summer and he has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
There has been a period of silence regarding Bayern Munich’s rumored pursuit of the Manchester City defender.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, part of the reason for that is because Pep Guardiola’s club is pushing to sign Walker to an extension.
Romano claims that City remain in talks with Walker over a new contract, although the right-back has attracted interest from German champions Bayern Munich.
It is claimed that Bayern are still in contact with the player and are trying to tempt him into a move to Bavaria.
The 33-year-old joined City from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2017 and has since played a key role for the club.
In total, the full-back has made 254 appearances for City across all competitions.
The Englishman has won no fewer than 14 trophies during his time at The Etihad, including five Premier League titles, the Champions League, and two FA Cups.
Walker has been a regular for City ever since joining the club, and made 39 appearances last term as the Manchester outfit completed a remarkable treble.
