Exciting developments are on the horizon for Manchester City supporters with the expansion of the Etihad Stadium set to make significant progress before the next season kicks off.

The Premier League champions recently received approval for ambitious plans to enhance the Etihad Stadium and its surroundings, increasing its capacity to nearly 62,000 seats by the end of 2023.

Additional conditions were required for the expansion, including the construction of a new 400-bed hotel, a TV studio, a roof walk attraction, and a fan zone for up to 3,000 people.

The new fan zone at the north stand of the Etihad Stadium will offer food and drink outlets, a club shop, and a museum showcasing Manchester City’s rich history.

The rapid changes around the Etihad Stadium are evident, with ongoing construction work and the demolition of the original club shop to make way for the new developments.

According to Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, construction workers at the Etihad Stadium have confirmed that the North Stand extension’s steel frame structure will be completed by the end of July 2024.

The overall project to enhance the Etihad Stadium is projected to bring £70 million of added value to the Greater Manchester economy annually and create 1,795 new full-time jobs, with potential for up to 3,000 jobs including part-time and casual shifts.

The Etihad Stadium’s inclusion in the successful UEFA EURO 2028 bid for the UK & Ireland highlights its importance, outshining Old Trafford as a preferred venue due to the latter’s need for upgrades.
