Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has shutdown discussion over a probable contract extension at the Premier League champions amid the claim that he dreams playing for Real Madrid one day.
The former Borussia Dortmund strike refused to comment on his contract during a recent interview with Norwegian channel TV2. The strike claimed that he has been at City for two years and also have three more years on his contract, stating that he couldn’t say more than that.
“I’ve had two fantastic years and have three years left. That’s really all I can say,” the 23-year-old told TV2.
When asked if there is any ongoing discussion to keep him at the club beyond his current contract, Haaland responded with: “That’s all I can say, what I just said.”
The Norwegian is at the moment regarded as one of the best strikers in the history of football. He left Borussia Dortmund for Man City in 2022 with a lot of potential. And he wasted no time to announce his arrival in the English-top flight league as his performances in his debut season attracted commendation from pundits.
With his 52 goals and 9 assists across all the competitions in the 2022/23 season, Manchester City were able to win a domestic double and the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history and became the second English team to have a treble-winning season.
Similarly, Erling Haaland had incredible numbers last campaign despite battling with injuries at some points during the season. He scored 38 goals and provided 6 assists in 43 matches in a season that his contribution to the team apart from goals was brutally criticised.
Without a doubt, the Manchester City striker is a target for many European teams, particularly Real Madrid, who had interest in him before joining the Sky Blues and would still like to add him to their star-studded squad if he decides to leave England.
