River Plate president Jorge Brito has confirmed that striker Julian Alvarez will be joining Manchester City, insisting it is a “done deal.”
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with City this month, having racked up an impressive 36 goals and 25 assists in 96 appearances for the Argentine champions.
Pep Guardiola’s side were even rumoured to be closing in on the transfer and now the River Plate president Jorge Brito has confirmed the ‘deal is done.’
“We’ve a full agreement with Manchester City to sell Julián. The deal is done,’ Brito said according to Fabrizio Romano.
Brito also confirmed Alvarez would be sent back to River Plate on loan until July 7.
“He’s going to stay on loan here at River Plate until July 7,” he added.
Alvarez is being tipped as the brightest young talent in Argentina following his breakout season
Turning 22 tomorrow, Alvarez has the ability to play centrally or out wide, although his preference is to play down the middle and act as goal-getter-in-chief.
